Sheep and I were talking about how our tiny frivolities are, well, extremely trivial. We make a big fuss out of nothing and we kill ourselves (not literally, of course) over the smallest matters.

When bigger burdens come into the picture, we realise how minute our personal concerns are.

(I recall having a similar conversation with Fung this week.)

It’s kinda true that I’m like everyone else – sickeningly superficial at times. I’m into beautiful, breathtaking photographs. I take a glance and I’m blown away. I don’t stop to think about the story behind the snapshot and I don’t stop to ask why.

Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.

All these outward appearances wow me. And it takes me a great deal of effort to look at the heart. I wonder how God does it. He sees beyond the form and he isn’t impressed by displays of devotion

This makes me so glad that He’s not superficial. If He were, we would all just have to become really good actors.
