holding on tight

Posted in Uncategorized by theracie on January 31, 2009

letter!I got a letter in the mail today. And my heart skipped a beat while reading it. Thank you dear Vanessa. I will reply soon! I must go get stamps for overseas post.

Here are some habits (They’re not 2nd nature these days) that I must not forget to do:
#1 Taking the initiative to say hello to unfamiliar faces / visitors.
#2 Being stupid so that I can bring a smile to your face.
#3 Sending messages of encouragement.

I cannot afford to lose these even if my environment and circumstances have changed.

#3’s especially important. I do believe I survived the last week mainly because of my friends who showed me they cared. Thank you all. You know who you are. (: And FUNGMIN, in case you didn’t realise, you are one of those people I was referring to.

I must be an encourager. I can testify how much life it’s given me and I will pass it on.

STRANGE ANALOGY ALERT!

If you’re a closer friend of mine, you would know that I have a weakness for salt and vinegar chips. I adore the tangy flavour! It’s my happy food. And my happy food makes me high. (Okay, I’m exaggerating! A little.)

Unfortunately, these chips (I prefer Lays’) tend to come in oversized servings. On several past occasions, I’ve bought a packet on impulse in an attempt to feed my sudden craving. (: The first chip was like heaven in my mouth. But soon enough, at the halfway mark, I found myself struggling to finish the chips.

On the extremely rare instance, I’ve actually devoured one entire packet on my own. Believe me, the aftermath wasn’t good. (: I can only stomach that much acid.

Today, sometime after 2517, this thought crossed my mind, “Will there ever come a day that I’ve had enough of God? Will there ever come a day that I grow tired of dwelling in His presence and receiving His blessings? Like how I can get sick of salt and vinegar chips at times?”

I need God. It’s not a LIKE thing. It’s a LOVE thing. Without Him, I won’t be me. And my prayer today would be for my soul to hunger after Him forevermore.

so blessed, i can’t contain it

Hello, I’m here to take a little breather from the hustle and bustle to count my blessings.

#1 Caregroup reunion dinner at canteen 4 today!
#2 Eileen who has been the best fellow i/c for NB party. (We get high together.)
#3 Yanyu, Jeekai and their committees who have been so faithful and excellent!
#4 Sengkim, who never fails to lend a helping hand.
#5 The fruitful shepherding I had with Qinpei this afternoon.

Regardless of how tiring /crappy / sian things have been, there is always something to thank God for. (:

Because I forgot to charge the camera battery, I could manage these few family shots before I left my house. (You can see what’s on the teevee!)

cny-09Haha, personally I thought DAY 1 of CNY rocked. I had lots of fun catching up with people I haven’t seen in a while and there were plenty of meaningful conversations, particularly with my cousins. Pleasant surprises, too!

I shall leave you with a cute photo of my cousin’s son:

raphaelPlace your cursor over the photo to find out his name. There’s absolutely no resemblance between him and the other person I know with the same name.

why like that.

Let’s just say, a decision made out of sheer stupidity turned out to be a mega mistake. Hmm. But how does one make up for damage that has already been done?

You can’t repair a white porcelain bowl that is chipped at one edge. Not completely, anyway.

Bang bang bang. I don’t think I can sleep tonight.

TODAY. (: At the risk of being hammered for detailing today’s events like a boring blogger, I shall tell you what I did today.

Accompanied Sengkim on his mission to buy shoes for CNY. Outcome? I bought a pair instead.

I finally had lunch at the legendary Ashton’s with Chingster, Qinny, Wang Yi, Sengkim and Huimin. We managed to get in without a queue! (Tip: Be there before 1230pm!) We then went to watch Red Cliff II, with Sherwin joining us. The movie was alright, it managed to captivate for the full 2 hours. (: The 5 of us indulged in Ben&Jerry’s afterwards all thanks to my vouchers. Afterwards, we continued the mission to get Sengkim’s shoes. I left before he bought them because…

I had a birthday party to attend! (: Dinner was at The Glass House with 12 other wonderful people.

On a sidenote, I think Fish&Co is like the land of Birthday People because almost every table had some birthday boy/girl. (We know this because the staff would start doing the birthday cheer thingamajig for each individual.) I thought that it was ironic after a while, when every birthday baby inevitably received the same ‘package’. So much for trying to make them feel special huh? Well, we certainly stood out with our “WE LOVE YOU, SAMUEL” song.

Later on, poor Samuel was forced to busk at the entrance of Plaza Sing and we played the roles (to great effect) of rabid fans, complete with camera phones. People actually stopped to watch. I must add that he was such a good sport too!

samuel buskingHAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Part of me misses such insanity, really. (: You guys made me realise (maybe) that I’ve been unknowingly consumed by the no-nonsense culture so much so that I have forgotten how to have fun.
