determinism vs free will
Snaggy asked me about this yesterday. And it was covered during HL808 lecture today.
This sets me on rumination mode.
Do you believe that everything was pre-determined by some greater power or that we have the ability to choose?
both
jesus was predetermined to come. We know it from the prophecies. We were in god’s draft even before time began. Psalms. We are called to reconcile with God, now that’s a choice. God holds our hands like we’re toddlers learning to walk. Our legs still control where we take the step! Or we can choose to stubbornly walk by our own efforts and fall. Though we know by His grace Jesus will pick us up.
I remember this phrase I heard somewhere:
We may have deviated from God’s perfect plan, but we are still within His plan because He has permitted so.
Everything is determined, but it co-exists with free will.
Makes sense?
Even so, that has encouraged me – many times over.
We have the ability to choose! coz you can choose to follow God’s plan or not! That seems like a choice to me (:
